Shapa Calibration

Welcome to Shapa! Whether you are about to take the first step (literally) or just curious about how Shapa works, we are excited to have you here. After you finish your initial assessment and your Shapa has arrived it is time to calibrate! During your Shapa calibration you are prompted to weigh in once daily for 10 days. We use this calibration period to allow the Shapa Color to understand your body’s natural weight fluctuations over the course of a day. Have questions? We have answers!

When should I start my calibration? Morning? Afternoon? Night?

It is up to you! For calibration, morning and evening are best, but we understand everyone has different schedules. We use this calibration period to allow the Shapa Color to understand your body’s natural weight fluctuations over the course of a day, and the difference between a weekday and weekend day. Consistency is the key! Try to choose a time that you can weigh in around the same time each day if you can. When in doubt, try to be consistent with the morning weigh-in (it’s what we’ll recommend for you after calibration so best to build that habit now 🙂 ).

Why do I need to calibrate before seeing my color?

When you first start using Shapa, you are prompted to weigh in daily for 10 days. We use this calibration period to allow the Shapa Color to understand your body’s natural weight fluctuations over the course of a day, and the difference between a weekday and weekend day. Most of us eat/move/behave differently on weekends vs week days.

What happens if I miss a weigh-in during calibration?

Don’t worry. If Shapa needs some additional weigh-ins to feel confident it understands your body’s fluctuations you may be asked to continue to step daily for a few days longer than the average 10 days.

Does everyone start at the same color?

Not necessarily. The color feedback is looking at your weight trend over a several day time period to let you know if you are losing/maintaining/gaining weight compared with your goal (ideal) weight you specified during the initial assessment. Shapa asks you to step daily for 10 days so we can understand your body’s natural weight shifts. When your Shapa Color is revealed, if your weight has been relatively stable over the past week and change then you’ll see the Shapa Color green (maintaining at current range). Most members do see the Shapa Color green to start, but really it depends on if there are some more dramatic weight shifts during calibration.

I made it out of calibration! Do I get to see my progress?

Once you are out of calibration, you will begin to see feedback on your progress in the Shapa program through the Progress Review feature in the Shapa app. Here you can track your progress on weigh-in frequency, mission completion, as well as weight history and body composition feedback. Please note, the weight history feedback is locked for all members and they can choose to unlock at their own discretion and see past and current average weight and relative change in % body fat (both sets of feedback do require several measurements to calculate so Shapa is confident in the feedback so they may not be visible right away).

If you have questions/comments/curious how soon you’ll be out of calibration don’t hesitate to reach out to our team by emailing [email protected].
